Kongdori Phase 1 is one of the most scenic and memorable spots in Gulmarg, and definitely a must-visit for anyone coming here. The cable car ride (Gulmarg Gondola) up to Phase 1 offers breathtaking views of snow-clad pine forests and rolling meadows, and the moment you step out of the gondola, the crisp mountain air and the surrounding beauty hit you instantly. It feels like a completely different world — calm, clean, and majestic. The ride from the base station to Kongdori takes around 8–10 minutes, and if you visit during winter, the entire landscape is blanketed in snow. It’s perfect for skiing, snow biking, and simple snow play if you’re not into adventure sports. In summer, the same slopes turn into lush green meadows, great for photography and picnics. The panoramic view of Apharwat peak and the Gulmarg bowl from here is simply stunning. There are a few food stalls and small shacks selling tea, Maggi, and snacks, though prices are on the higher side (understandable given the altitude and transport difficulty). The area is relatively clean, but it can get crowded during tourist seasons, especially in late December or May–June. If you prefer peace and fewer people, try visiting early in the morning. One thing to note is that the ticketing process at the base can be a bit chaotic during rush hours. Booking tickets online in advance is highly recommended to avoid long queues. Also, ensure you wear proper warm clothing — the temperature drops quickly even when it’s sunny below. Locals here are friendly and helpful, though some may try to offer guide or ride services at inflated rates; it’s best to politely decline if you’re not interested. Overall, Kongdori Phase 1 is extremely well worth the experience — it’s the ideal balance between accessibility and mountain adventure. Whether you’re here for sightseeing, snow fun, or simply to breathe in the alpine air, it’s a memory that stays with you long after you descend back

A solid experience, especially for those who want a safe, scenic ride with the option to stop and explore without pushing too hard. Great for families, moderate walkers, or if you want to ease into alpine terrain.

If there's something called Heaven on earth, this is the one. Lush green meadow with majestic blue sky and the spread of tall alpines enough to captivate you. A picturesque scenario to chill with family and or friends. There's is cable car option to get over the higher region called phase 2 where you get witness snow and or snowfall during winter & at times in October, too ( like we witnessed in the first week of this October).

The Gulmarg Gondola Phase-I takes you to this location. The Gondola ride is quite awesome...worth the wait and toil. It takes about 8-10mins to reach the elevation. Some people do feel fatigued and loss-of-breath (so be cautious). The time we visited, the whole area right from Gulmarg was covered in thick snow!! And the experience...snow covered mountains speckled with dark pines....was heavenly. Temperature was quite low due to rains and snow. The place has a decent cafe, a nicely built washroom with hot water provision, queuing area, selfie points, etc. Local people are busy selling kahwa, coffee, or offering rides in their sledges, snow scooters, ice skating kits, etc. From here one has to board the Phase-II Gondola to Aharwat hill top.
