Harnag Lake is an absolute gem nestled in nature's embrace. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed by its breathtaking beauty and serene atmosphere. The crystal-clear waters of the lake reflect the surrounding lush greenery, creating a picturesque and tranquil setting that's perfect for relaxation. The well-maintained trails around the lake are ideal for leisurely walks and offer several fantastic viewpoints. Each turn reveals a new perspective of the stunning landscape, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. I especially loved the abundance of wildlife; spotting birds and small animals added an extra layer of charm to the experience. Picnic areas are strategically placed, allowing visitors to enjoy a meal with a view. The benches and shaded spots are perfect for taking a break and soaking in the natural beauty. I spent hours simply sitting by the water, listening to the gentle lapping of the waves and the rustling of leaves in the breeze. One of the highlights of my visit was the friendly locals who shared stories about the lake’s history and significance. Their warmth and hospitality made the experience even more memorable. In summary, Harnag Lake is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking peace, natural beauty, and a touch of local culture. Highly recommend!

The best place in kashmir for a trek. I have visited there once through Aru Valley Pahalgam and it is still the best adventure of my life. There are so many beautiful valleys coming before this lake. In one of the valleys there lives a nomadic tribe in summers , who are so kind and helpful. They had also helped us, one of them came to guide us for a further trek. You can stay there for a night and keep your things there so that you can move forward easily.

Great experience. Best way to do Harbagwan lake trekk is to camp in Medicinal Valley past Harnag lake , then go for a day trekk to Harbagwan lake. It's a high altitude lake more than 4300m above sea level probably second only to Durinar III in Kashmir . Sorry to mention that most of the photos posted here are of Harnag lake not Harbagwan.

● About 100kms away from Srinagar there comes Aru Valley- Pahalgam which is a focal point for many Alpine treks around the vicinity. ● From Aru Valkey you have to start your trek and it will take you 3 hrs to reach AarmPathri and from Aarmpathri to Nafran further 3-4 hrs. Nafran is a heavenly abode that expands vast area with lush green meadows. ● Nafran Valley is the most striking and scenic beauty in the area- simply a heavenly abode for Camping. It may take different time durations for different hikers respectively. It can serve the best camping site for Har'nag Lake. ● From Nafran to Har'nag Lake it will take you around 3-4 hrs. Harn'nag can be the most suitable base camp for Harbaghwan Lake. The trail will consume some 5 -6 hrs to reach Harbaghwan lake- one of the highest Alpine lakes of Kashmir. ● We need minimum 3 days and 5 days maximum respectively to complete the whole adventure.
