3 months agoShilsar Lake is a hidden gem near Margan Top, surrounded by peaceful meadows and snowy ridges. The short trek (around 7 km) is moderately tough but worth it for the breathtaking alpine views. The water is crystal clear and often partly frozen, making it look magical. There are no shops or facilities, so carry your own essentials. Best time to visit is between June and September. Perfect for nature lovers and those looking for an offbeat, less crowded trek.
Social Skyline
5 months agoI recently visited Shilsar Lake with Upland Adventures. The landscape was undeniably beautiful — wide open meadows, peaceful trails, and the lake itself is a stunning sight, especially with the surrounding mountains reflecting in the water. I’ve shared a few photos here, but even those don’t fully capture the calm and scale of the place. That said, as someone who has done many treks before, I didn’t find this one particularly unique or challenging. It felt quite similar to other alpine lakes in Kashmir. If you’re a beginner or someone who just wants to relax in nature, this would be perfect. But for seasoned trekkers looking for a test of endurance or something new, this might feel a bit underwhelming. Still, kudos to Upland Adventures for organizing everything well. They made the entire experience smooth and comfortable. Definitely a good choice for beginners or casual trekkers.

4 years agoShilsar lakes , also known as leherwan lakes , located in the upper reaches of margan are total 4 in number with 2 of them having a pretty easy trek and the other two are a bit complicated but overall its an absolute beautiful place especially the third and the fourth lake , for which one has to cross the shilsar pass (4200> m above sea level).
