3 years agoJhelum river originated from Chasma Verinag. Very few people know this place and go there. This place is an amazing place to go for family picnic or visit. It has its charm own to attract you, away from the busy life. It is on route from Srinagar to Banihal, just before the Banihal toll post you have take a right turn to Verinag and it approx 30 mins drive from there. There are few eating joints at the Mughal Garden Verinag. Perfect place for photos/selfie lovers. Plz reach there by 11 am to enjoy the beauty of this place. There is a ticket need to be purchased for this place. Washrooms are also there at J&K reception centre. There is a guesthouse made by J&K tourism which will be ready for stay but TV needs to be installed, that will be ready by February 2023. But stay will be very good with scenic beauty..... People of this place are very friendly and simple.....😊

3 years agoThis garden is famous for its spring and has attained its name from the same that is 'Verinag'...'nag' in Kashmiri language means spring. It is the major source of river Jhelum. The garden is beautiful with different varieties of flowers adding to its beauty. The place should have increased number of dustbins and public restrooms. To the backside of the garden is a small but beneficial market where in some food stalls, toy stalls and restaurants are available. You can do some economical shopping there. The garden is very small but a nearby forest is making up to that. You can go for a little trekking.

3 years agoThere is an octagonal stone basin at Verinag Spring and an arcade surrounding it which were built by Mughal emperor Jahangir in 1620 A.D. Later, a beautiful garden next to this spring, was laid out by his son Shah Jahan. This spring is known to never dry up or overflow. Verinag Spring is also the major source of river Jhelum. Verinag Spring and Mughal Arcade surrounding it is officially recognized by Archaeological Survey of India as a Monument of National Importance.

4 years agoPlace where you can enjoy some quality time with your family and friends. Lush green, Chinars, Verinag Spring and much more. This place hosts the origin of Jhelum River... They have a ticket counter and it is not much costly. If you want to avoid the crowd try days other than weekends.
