4 years agoThe ancient temple of Maha Kali reconstructed a few years back has also emerged as a famous pilgrimage center. The shrine of holy Goddess is situated on a hillock on the outskirts of old jasrota village, 5 Kms from rajbagh on Jaammu-Kathua road (National Highway) and 20 Kms from Kathua. It is situated on the banks of the Ujj River , around 60 kilometres (37 mi) from Jammu, in Jammu and Kashmir.It now forms a part of the Jasrota wildlife sanctuary . Jasrotia Rajputs meet there annually to commemorate their history and organise a yarns for a temple that exists inside the palace.Two temples stood within the walls. One of these has now been decorated in the lingam style and is dedicated to Shiva. One the seat of imperial power was made a wazarat (district) of Jammu Provice when Gulab Singh became the Maharaja of Jammu & Kashmir in March’1846. During the regin of Maharaja Ranbir Singh. Jasrota was founded by Raj Jas Dev of Jammu in 1019 AD

6 years agoNot a safe place to visit at all. [ with Female ] BE ALERT ! There are drunk guys around and they abuse the family esp with girls. If you are an outsider they will loot you and might even get physical. Things can escalate easily as there is no Police security all the time. Place is safe to visit only on NAVRATRIS. I am also sharing the vehicle of the guys who were drinking and abusing the local girl with family. I am ashamed that people like these are ruining the whole tourist spot and there is no step taken by authorities. Stay safe, plan Ahead.

7 years agoBest spiritual place in Kathua. Best time to visit here is in Navaratri and You can also visit her on Tuesday or sunday. But during Navaratri there is fair at side of staircase. Where you can buy toys or Mata's lockets .There are also very good sweet shops there where you can buy all your favourite sweets. And in April Navaratri there are also arrangement of fair rides. And there is very less charge of these rides. JASROTA DAM IS ALSO NEAR WHICH IS ALSO VERY NYC PLACE TO VISIT. Also there is another place for history lovers. Fort of king of jasrota. You can also visit wildlife sanctuary here.

6 years agoEVERY DEVOTEE EVERY RELIGIOUS PERSON EVERY NATURE LOVER WHO EVER IT IS..... THIS IS THE PERFECT PLACE FOR DIVING DEEP INSIDE URSLF LIVING BEHIND THE ROBOTIC LIFE OF CITIES. ALONG WITH THE TEMPLE, A PARK IS ALSO THERE. JUST 2 KMS AWAY IS A DAM WHICH TOO HAS ITS SCENIC BEAUTY.
