A trek to chumnai twin lakes 24 August 2021: Team Falcon Trekkers from Tral, by the grace of Almighty Allah, conducted a successful trek to the Himalayan mountain range. The team completed a circular trek of 2 lakes in record time. Boud chumnai lake(4036 mts ASL) and Lokut chumnai lake(3920 mts ASL) were scaled. Started early morning from the Aru valley. The intriguing trial alternatively through dense forests and unending meadows with wild flowers booming and spreading fragrance takes a toll on one's physical health. The continuous steep accent for the first part of trek is cumbersome and the other part followed by continuous boulders is an energy drain for sure. We first went to boud chumnai , followed by lakut chumnai. The top view of these lakes presents an enchanting view. the mountain range separating Aru and Tral forms one of the boundaries of these 2 lakes which are separated by a distance of around 3-4 kms (approx). All the trek members deserve acclods for achieving the feat Watch the breathtaking visuals of chumnai meadows and chumnai twin lakes Trek distance: 36 kms ( to and fro) Lakes : chumnai lokut sar and chumnai boud sar Trek gradient: Hard

Chumnai Lakes (Major & Minor) could be notable & refreshing destinations for ardent Trekkers. From Aru Valley you can take horse or you can cover the journey on foot. It will take you almost 5 to 6 hours to reach any of the lakes from Aru Valley. It will be preferable to reach the Minor Lake first, for this you have to take the right side at the junction where you can opt for Major or Minor. The first two hours are quite friendly and you have to move through the pine woods but after two hours of the trek, your expedition is going to be a Challenge- rough and rugged terrain, almost 5 kms on the rocky trails, and the elevation will not cease unless you reach the Chumnai Minor. After the first two hours of journey, you will barely find any shade thereafter. For the beginners such Treks should be given third preferences. After reaching at the Chumnai Minor, you can set your camp there and next day you can go for Chumnai Major that's just 45 minutes away from the Minor and quite mesmerizing, beautiful and much bigger than the Minor Lake. The water is crystal Clear and Emerald beauty splashing all around. If you have bigger plans, you can cross the pass of Chumnai Minor and get over to the Nagberan Valley of Marsar Lake, from there you can visit Tarsar Lake, Marsar Lake, Sundarsar Lake and through Judgemargi you can reach to Lidderwat and then back to Aru Valley- Pahalgam. If such plans then plan for a week. Note: Questions are welcome.

As the name says boud sar it is the major lake of chumnai lakes with beautiful hills all over it and the cold fresh waters are amazing. It is just an hour from the chumnai -1 . Descending from the lake is bit hectic as it is totally rocky for almost 5-6kms . Overall a good experience.
