It is actually an old Palace of Maharaja Hari Singh converted into a hotel. It is one of the best in Jammu city with good ambience and scenic view. However, Uber and Ola in not available in Jammu so one has to have his private transport to reach it. It is well suited for marriage ceremony as a venue. Ample parking is there. Maharaja mesuim is also there with a ₹100/- entrance ticket.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Pathetic Rules and Customer Handling I visited Hari Nawaz Palace Restaurant around 6:40 p.m. on 25th Oct just for a cup of tea. To my surprise, I was not allotted any table. The staff informed me that all tables were booked from 8:00 p.m. onwards — even though, at that time, only 2–3 tables were occupied and 10–12 tables were completely empty. I clearly mentioned that I only needed the table for 15–20 minutes and would leave right after finishing my tea. However, the manager (or duty manager) refused, stating that customers often say the same and then don’t vacate on time. Despite assuring him otherwise, I was denied entry. I later tried calling the restaurant’s landline number listed on their website, but no one answered. Honestly, this is not how a hospitality business should treat customers. Denying entry to a guest for a short visit — even when tables are empty — reflects pathetic rules and poor management. In the service industry, customers are supposed to be treated with respect, not turned away without reason. Very disappointed with this experience. I hope the management revisits their policies and trains their staff better in basic customer handling.

Hari Singh Nivas was once a really beautiful and iconic place in Jammu, carrying a lot of heritage and history. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been maintained the way it should have been. The heritage value of this property is immense, but the lack of proper care and upkeep has taken away much of its charm. With better preservation and management, this place could truly reflect the rich history it holds. It definitely deserves more attention and care.

Hari Niwas Palace is one of those rare places where heritage meets comfort perfectly. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the peaceful surroundings, the classic architecture, and the warm atmosphere of the hotel. The team made our stay even more enjoyable. Mr. Vishal at the front office was welcoming and ensured everything was handled smoothly during our check-in. Mr. Vinay from the restaurant staff was attentive and made sure we were comfortable during every meal — the food was delicious, especially the local dishes. Mr. Sharik also stood out with his helpful and positive attitude, always ready to assist with a smile. The overall experience was fantastic — calm, comfortable, and full of personal touches. I would highly recommend Hari Niwas Palace to anyone visiting Jammu who wants a royal yet homely experience.
