The Raghunath Temple in Jammu is a popular and revered temple complex, renowned as one of the largest in Northern India. It is primarily dedicated to Lord Rama, worshiped as Raghunath, along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana. The complex features numerous pictures and statues of other Hindu deities and is famous for housing a huge collection of 1.5 Lakh tiny, sacred stones called Shaligrams. Aesthetically, the temple is striking, featuring gold-covered shikhars and walls adorned with detailed paintings depicting scenes from Hindu stories. Pujaris lead the Aarti every morning and evening for visitors. Conveniently located in the center of Jammu city, the temple is easy to reach. While street parking is unavailable, the temple is friendly for wheelchair users and offers locker facilities, as phones and cameras are often not permitted inside. Clean washrooms are also available. It truly is a must-visit temple for its peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

Lord Shri Ram is seated in this temple along with Mata Sita and Lakshman ji. There are many other small temples in the temple courtyard in which the idols of Lord Shiv Ji ,Veer Hanuman ji and Lord Karneshwar Nataraja ji are also here. The temple is located in Raghunath Bazaar, the main market of Jammu city. There is always a crowd of people visiting here.

Shri Raghunath Temple is one of the most iconic and historically significant temples in the city of Jammu, located about 4.8 km from the city center in the bustling Raghunath Bazaar area. This temple complex is dedicated to Lord Rama (Raghunathji) and houses several other shrines of various deities within its premises. Built in the mid-19th century by Maharaja Gulab Singh and completed by his son Maharaja Ranbir Singh, the temple showcases beautiful traditional Hindu architecture with gold-plated interiors and detailed murals. It stands as a spiritual center and a testimony to the Dogra rulers’ devotion. Interestingly, the legend of Maa Vaishno Devi is closely connected to this temple. It is believed that the idol of Maa Vaishnavi was first enshrined here before being established at the cave shrine in Trikuta hills. Devotees visiting Vaishno Devi often visit this temple as part of their spiritual journey. Despite being located in a busy commercial street, the temple offers a calm and sacred atmosphere. A must-visit for anyone seeking to understand the religious and cultural roots of Jammu.
