a month agoIt’s a weekly flea-style market that takes place on Sundays in Srinagar. • Vendors set up stalls along major roads (TRC Ground, Radio Kashmir Crossing, Residency Road, Lal Chowk, Hari Singh High Street) and sell a wide variety of goods. • Items sold include second-hand/used clothes, “factory surplus” or imported garments, blankets, shoes, accessories; also home goods, kitchen utensils, etc. Where & When • From early morning on Sunday until sometime in the evening (closing usually around or after evening prayers for many vendors). • The stretch runs from Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) to Hari Singh High Street, through Lal Chowk and up to areas like Radio Kashmir Crossing, Regal Chowk, etc. ⸻ Why it’s popular • It is a place to get good bargains, especially for clothes and winter wear, etc. • Many people from across the Kashmir Valley come here, not just locals, because of the range and lower costs. • It also offers livelihood for many vendors; some reports suggest thousands of families depend on it. ⸻ Challenges / Notes • The market gets very crowded, especially during peak season (fall/winter) when people are buying warm clothes etc. • Traffic congestion is a serious issue on Sundays because the market is spread along major roads in the city centre. • Quality can vary: some goods are nearly new/imported, others are used or with defects, so you need to check carefully. ⸻ Tips if you go 1. Go early: Best time is early morning to get better selection before things sell out. 2. Carry cash: Many vendors may not accept digital payments. 3. Inspect quality: For clothes, shoes especially, examine stitching, defects, etc. 4. Be ready for walking: Stalls stretch over long distances; parking near may be difficult. 5. Bargain: Prices are not fixed; haggling is common. 6. Weather-aware: In winter, mornings are cold; vendors sell jackets, blankets, etc. In summer crowd can also be intense.

2 years agoThe Sunday market is not a new thing. It has been there for ages, and is still one of the main attractions for the locals and tourists also in the heart of srinagar city. The Sunday market is like a fair on a weekly basis where the local and outside vendors install their stalls, and trade their items at reasonable and affordable rates for one and all. In the Sunday market, items like shoes, garments, carpets, curtains, kidswear, electronics, food items and counting. The Sunday market needs to adapt a few things to upgrade customer service, and administration must play a proactive role to get it done. Different items should be organised in a proper way, management of traffic along the same road, parking facilities should be made available and much more.

6 years agoThis is the flea market of Srinagar you will find used clothes bags and other apparels. It’s mostly popular for use shoes, jeans and shirts and T-shirts. You can also shop for interior of your house with curtains, pillows, quilt, blankets and carpets and other decorative items. You have to park your vehicle little away from the main market because it’s too much crowded and you should be ready to walk It’s almost stretched to around 2 km. The best time to visit this place in the morning is at 7 AM As you will find a better quality stuff but later in the evening the quality stuff has been already bought. You will find international brands like Nike Adidas quicksilver under armour and many more. You Should be able to find a better piece of Apperal or shoe yourself if it’s your lucky day you might take something good at a very cheap price. You should have the eye to pick stuff.
