Located a two-day trek from Sonamarg, this oligotrophic lake is a haven for nature lovers and adventure seekers. As I embarked on the trek, I was struck by the breathtaking scenery that surrounded me. The picturesque mountains, adorned with vibrant wildflowers, stretched towards the sky, creating a mesmerizing backdrop for my journey. The gentle rustle of leaves and chirping of birds accompanied me throughout the trek, immersing me in the serenity of nature. The moment I caught sight of Vishansar Lake, I knew I had stumbled upon something truly special. The crystal-clear waters, nestled amidst the towering mountains, sparkled like a precious gem. The lake's oligotrophic nature ensures that its waters remain pristine and untouched, reflecting the surrounding beauty like a mirror. The trek to Vishansar Lake is a lifetime experience that will leave you enchanted and spellbound. The challenging terrain, though demanding, is rewarded with unparalleled views and an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. In conclusion, Vishansar Lake is a hidden gem that promises an unforgettable experience. During this sojourn, I and my fellow trekkees from Varmul Trekking Club, were lucky enough to encounter fair weather and were able to have stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. The journey also took us though some of the beautiful high altitude meadows laid with stunning and contrasting wild flower varieties, never seen or grown in our lawns or gardens. The wonderful aroma of the flowers would refresh the senses giving a feeling as if one is passing through the internal gardens. Although Kashmir Great Lakes trek is  categorised as “moderately difficult “, the ascent and descents down the  high altitude passes is a challenge which is a test to one's physical strength and mental toughness. The ascent to the Gadsar pass (13750ft) proved to be a daunting task. Almost every member, as well as the other trekkers drawn from all over the world, could be seen gasping for breath as  oxygen levels deplete considerably on such high altitudes. Though before summiting the Gadsar pass, the members had earlier crossed Nichnai Pass (13,100ft), but the gradient for the Gadsdar is steeper than the Nichnai pass, which lead us to the twin lakes of Vishansar and Kishansar lakes (12000 ft). However, once the group members reached the Gadsar summit, their joy knew no bounds. It's really a deja vu moment.

One of the best places to visit in Kashmir. U get a breathtaking view of twin lakes of Vishansar and Kishansar on Gadsar pass at an altitude of 4200 mtrs.
